This work is more of a spectacle than Dean's other films and is less compelling as a result. The scale is impressive but it had to be in order to compete with the vastness of the turbine hall. Dean stresses that she physically splices the film and manipulates the frames by hand, by adding colour, cutting and collaging. She has always done this, but it has been less apparent in previous works. As a result this piece feels more like a demonstration of techniques rather than an actual film.
